PERVIOUS PAVEMENT is used in place of conventional asphalt or concrete in parking lots and sidewalks, allowing water to be purified and infiltrated as opposed to going into the storm water system. Pervious pavement, when properly designed and installed, will infiltrate over 8” of rainfall per hour. It meets or exceeds BPM's for water quality. Pervious pavement can be brick, asphalt, or concrete.
Pervious pavement is not a problem for high heels and meets ADA requirements and also exceeds University of Pittsburgh testing for smoothness for wheelchair usage.
Pavement markings can be painted or for less maintenance can be created with different color bricks or bricks laid in a different pattern. It reduces the need for ice control products in the winter and plows the same as any hard surface.
